INVESTIGATION OF SMOOTH RIDE OF 4X4 FARM TRUCKS WITH A 5-TON CARRYING CAPACITY

Authors: D. Kbilashvili, M. Tevzadze, Z. Chkhartishvili

Abstract:

With the purpose of improving smooth ride characteristics of farm trucks, the paper describes the results of highway-experimental tests conducted by the example of 4x4 farm truck with a 5-ton carrying capacity. There has been evaluated the impact of the elastic-damping characteristics of the similar-dimension type tires on the vibrations of sprung and unsprung weights of truck. It has been established that minor difference between geometrical dimensions of tires, in practice, does not have a significant impact on truck smooth ride characteristics, but variation of dynamic (elastic-damping) characteristics that during the process of road tests was achieved by varying the air inflation pressure in tire, has a significant impact on vibration loading of truck, and the more pronounced is this impact, the higher is disturbing actions of the truck.

Keywords: smooth ride; tire; spring; carrying capacity; dynamic characteristics.
